Case Study
MEMORABLE

Overview
MEMORABLE is a cyberpunk interactive fiction game written in pure Python. You play Ash Verlaine, a memory trafficker in Nova City, a place governed by an AI called MNEMOS — whose lines are generated by a language model as you play.
The Problem
A branching story is only as flexible as the branches someone wrote. Players notice quickly when a narrative can only respond to the choices it anticipated, and the sense of agency falls apart.
Our Approach
The game tracks the player's choices across four alignments — Empathy, Rebellion, Cynicism and Control — and sends that profile to Qwen3 through the Groq API, which generates MNEMOS's dialogue and a closing ending shaped by how the player actually behaved.
Architecture & Features
Everything runs in pygame. CRT scanlines and chromatic aberration are rendered in-engine, and a custom asynchronous audio system layers rain, a synthwave score and typing sounds that pause on punctuation. If the network or the API is unavailable, the game falls back to hand-written dialogue without interrupting play: the model makes the story better, but the game never depends on it. MEMORABLE is complete and playable, with a compiled build on itch.io.
